Closest to the Shoe

Played the Futures Tour last week in Syracuse NY. Started the week off good by winning the "Closest to the Shoe" contest sponsored by Etonic. The players who participate must have had a top 20 finish or wear Etonic Shoes. Good thing I was paying attention at registration otherwise I would have missed out on the opportunity to compete in the contest. I won $250 and a pair of Etonic shoes which are to be worn during the Etonic skills challenge in Concord, NH. Four players will compete in this challenge. Winner gets $1000. Wish me luck.
Also started the week great by finishing 2nd in the pro-am. Usually the pro is the celebrity in the pro-am. Not this time!! I was paired with the offensive coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Playing with a professional football coach there was no "fluff" allowed. I was worried about getting grief from my team, so I made everything I looked at. It was a good time and even more fun because we were playing good.

Finished T32 in Syracuse and made a check for $539. Shot 69 the last day. This will improve my final round scoring average. The sad part is that I could have shot 66 or 86 and my check would differ less that $300. A score of 86 would have made me $450 and a score of 66 would have made me $707. You have to finish in the top ten to make any money on the Futures tour. I better get to practicing so I can move up that leader board.
Great news!!!! The LPGA bought the Futures tour!!!!!!! Well, Im pretty sure this is great news. Time will tell. It can only be good for women's golf. Hopefully this will mean bigger and better tournaments for the Futures.

Guinness - my wiener dog

This is Guinness, my wiener dog. He sleeps with his tongue sticking out.

Making progress

Finished 7th in the Futures event in St. Anne, IL. My good friend and trainer/PT, Sharon Smith was able to caddy for me. She worked out great because she is very supportive and motivating. I did all the yardages and most of the club selecting, but she did all the "work". Thank you Sharon!!! I am finally getting more comfortable with a caddy that is not Jody. Who would have thought it was going to be this difficult. Well, I guess that's golf. Nothing is ever easy in this game, especially finding a caddy that fits.
